LG V20 with 5.7″ 2K Display & Dual Rear Cameras to Launch in India on December 5th

After skipping the LG V10, LG has officially confirmed to launch the LG V20 smartphone in the Indian market. While the device is said to be available in the market, the official launch event is scheduled for December 5th in New Delhi.

Apart from Google Pixel smartphones, this will be the first smartphone to launch with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Though HTC 10 Evo was announced last month with Nougat, it will be available in the market only by the end of this month. As we said earlier, the LGV20 might be priced at MRP Rs. 60,000 but will be available for the best buy price of Rs. 54,999.

Earlier: Nov 29th, 2016 – After several leaks and rumors, LG has launched its latest flagship smartphone LG V20 at an event held in San Francisco on September 6th. The launch event happened alongside the IFA 2016 where we have seen the launch of Moto Z Play, Lenovo K6 series, Huawei Nova series, Sony Xperia XZ, and Xperia X Compact. The LG V20 is the successor to the LG V10 which came with dual front cameras and secondary ticker display. With the LG V20, the company has opted for dual rear camera setup on the rear instead of the front. Even the LG G5 that was launched in the first half of 2016 also came with similar dual rear cameras.

The LG V20 is also the world’s first smartphone to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Until last year, Google Nexus smartphone are the first to devices launch with the new Android release, but in 2016, the Google decided to replace the Nexus series with Pixel series. However, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL came with updated Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with the exclusive Google Assistant feature built-in. Unlike the LG V10, the company has decided to launch the LG V20 smartphone in India. It is said to be priced at an MRP of Rs. 60,000 but it will be retailed at Rs. 54,999.

It will be available in stock across India via major retail outlet starting from tomorrow. Talking about the specifications, the LG V20 sports a 5.7-inch IPS Quantum display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. As seen on the LG V10, the V20 also sports a 2.1-inch secondary ticker display with 160 x 1040 pixels resolution. There is also Gorilla Glass 4 laid on top for extra protection. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of internal storage that can be extended upto 2TB via MicroSD card slot.

The device runs on latest Android 7.0 Nougat with the in-house LG UX 5.0+ UI on top. Coming to the cameras, there is a 16MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP wide-angle sensor with a f/2.4 aperture on the rear. The primary rear camera supports PDAF, OIS 2.0, laser autofocus. The device offers the manual mode for image and video recording as well. On the front is a 5MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture and wide-angle lens. While all smartphone manufacturers are going non-removable batteries, LG still continues to offer removable batteries on all their smartphones. The LG V20 packs a 3,200mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, S-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The circular fingerprint sensor can found on the rear of the device. It also includes the exclusive knock code lock screen option. It also sports ES9218 dedicated Quad DAC that brings much better audio output that can be experienced with the premium headsets. Just like in the U.S, the company might also offer the premium B&O Play earphones along with the device.
